A Monmouth County Little League president is facing criminal charges after authorities alleged he stole more than $73,000 from the organization over a nearly three-year period.

According to a statement released by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Donald Petito, 42, of Freehold, has been charged with theft by unlawful taking.
Investigators said Petito, who served as president of the Freehold Township Little League, began submitting fraudulent reimbursement requests in March 2022.
Authorities allege the requests included purchases with inflated amounts or expenses for items that were never purchased.
The investigation was launched after officials received information regarding suspected financial misconduct involving league funds.
Prosecutors said the alleged scheme continued until January 2025 and resulted in more than $73,000 being improperly taken from the organization.

The matter remains pending in Monmouth County Superior Court.
