Comfortable Start, Chance of Afternoon Showers in North Jersey

Good morning, New Jersey! 

Thank you for waking up with us on this refreshing Wednesday morning.

If you're heading out early, you'll notice a cool breeze and comfortable temperatures across much of the region. 

It is currently 65 degrees in downtown Newark, making for a pleasant start to the day.

 

While the morning is expected to remain dry, you may want to grab an umbrella before leaving home. 

Forecasters are tracking scattered showers and a few thunderstorms that could develop later this afternoon and evening. It won't be a washout, but periods of rain are possible.

 

Around the state this morning, temperatures include 50 degrees in Sussex County, 62 in Morristown, 64 in New York City, and 66 in Toms River.

According to the National Weather Service, today's forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 81 degrees. 

A chance of showers is expected between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., followed by the possibility of showers and thunderstorms later in the evening. 

Winds will be light out of the south and southeast at 6 to 11 mph.


Tonight, there remains a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m. 

 

Skies will become increasingly cloudy overnight with a low around 66 degrees.
