Authorities are searching for the individuals responsible for an apparent acid attack that left five women injured Monday evening in Jersey City.

According to preliminary information released by the Jersey City Police Department, the incident occurred near 105 Wilkinson Avenue when a vehicle reportedly pulled up to a group of women standing outside and occupants threw what is believed to be sulfuric acid at them.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene shortly before 7:40 p.m. after receiving reports of multiple assault victims suffering injuries from an unknown chemical substance.
Hazmat crews were requested to assist, and the victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Police said all five women sustained non-life-threatening injuries, including burns and skin irritation.
All victims were reported to be in stable condition.
Investigators believe the attack was targeted and may have stemmed from an earlier dispute involving a larger group of people, according to preliminary information from law enforcement.
No arrests have been announced, and authorities continue to search for the suspects involved.
