Authorities in Essex County are continuing to investigate a hit-and-run crash that left a Newark man fatally injured earlier this month.

Preliminary information indicates that shortly after 1 a.m. on June 9, police and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the intersection of Fairmount Avenue and Springfield Avenue in Newark’s Central Ward after receiving reports of an injured person in the roadway.

Upon arrival, first responders found a man suffering from severe injuries believed to have been sustained in a motor vehicle crash.

The victim, identified as 30-year-old Mr. Anthony Bogan, was transported to University Hospital for emergency treatment.

Despite efforts by medical staff, Bogan succumbed to his injuries on June 13.

Authorities have not released a description of the vehicle involved, and no arrests have been announced as of Tuesday.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under active investigation by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and Newark Police.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office or the Newark Police Department.
