Piscataway Man Dies After Two-Vehicle Crash in Bridgewater

A Piscataway man has died following a two-vehicle crash in Bridgewater Township late Saturday night, according to a statement released by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.

Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Acting Chief of County Detectives Meredith McKay, and Bridgewater Township Police Chief John B. Mitzak announced that the fatal collision occurred at approximately 9:41 p.m. on June 13 near Finderne Avenue and Van Veghten Drive.

 

Responding officers from the Bridgewater Police Department arrived at the scene and discovered a crash involving a Honda and a Kia.

 

Authorities said the driver of the Honda was transported to a regional trauma center for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision.

 

The driver of the Kia, a male resident of Piscataway, suffered critical injuries and was transported to a local trauma hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

 

Three passengers traveling in the Kia, including one front-seat passenger and two rear-seat passengers, were also taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
 

Members of the Somerset County Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to assist with the investigation, along with the Bridgewater Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.

 

The crash remains under active investigation as authorities await the findings of the Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team.
