NJ Releases 2025 Police Major Discipline Report

New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport announced the release of the state’s 2025 Major Discipline Report, offering new insight into serious disciplinary actions taken against law enforcement officers across New Jersey.

The 560-page report covers discipline imposed between January 1 and December 31, 2025. According to the Attorney General’s Office of Justice Data and the Office of Public Integrity and Accountability, 817 major discipline actions were taken by 169 law enforcement agencies against 654 officers.

The report includes final disciplinary actions such as terminations, demotions, suspensions of more than five days, and sustained internal affairs violations involving serious misconduct.

 

Officials said the data is being released to strengthen transparency, accountability, and public trust in law enforcement.

 

The Attorney General’s Office also released the 2025 Internal Affairs summary, which shows more than 16,000 internal affairs investigations were opened statewide, stemming from more than 11,000 incidents and involving more than 10,000 officers.

More than a quarter of closed investigations resulted in sustained findings, with reprimands, retraining, counseling, and suspensions among the most common outcomes.
