Emergency crews responded to a neighborhood in Wayne on Friday evening after two homes were struck by lightning during severe weather, causing significant damage to at least one residence.

According to emergency dispatch reports, firefighters were called to the area of 104 and 120 Oldham Road at approximately 7:15 p.m. after lightning struck both homes.
Initial reports indicated that the residence at 104 Oldham Road sustained extensive damage, including a hole through a floor caused by the strike.
As firefighters assessed the scene, officials requested assistance from PSE&G and local fire prevention personnel.
Authorities later reported structural damage to the garage and portions of one of the affected homes.
By approximately 7:46 p.m., incident commanders requested that PSE&G return to the scene to disconnect electrical service after determining the home’s electrical panel had been compromised by the lightning strike.
Officials indicated the electric meter needed to be removed to ensure the property was safe.
No injuries were immediately reported.
The extent of the damage and whether the affected families were displaced was not immediately known.
Officials continue to assess the impact of the lightning strikes.
