Emergency responders rushed to the scene of a serious overnight crash in Kearny after a vehicle struck a tree and trapped its occupant, according to preliminary reports.
The crash occurred shortly after midnight near the intersection of Riverview Court and Passaic Avenue. Initial reports indicated a single vehicle had crashed into a tree, leaving at least one person entrapped inside the wreckage.
Responding police officers reportedly performed a rapid extrication of the victim to begin CPR while firefighters were en route to the scene.
Dispatch updates indicated the victim suffered traumatic injuries and required immediate lifesaving measures.
The condition of the victim has not been officially released, and authorities have not yet confirmed whether any additional occupants were involved in the crash.
The circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation.
