Elizabeth Teen Charged in Fatal Shooting of 15-Year-Old Boy

An Elizabeth teenager has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy last week, according to a joint announcement from Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel, Elizabeth Police Director Earl Graves, and Elizabeth Police Chief Giacomo Sacca.

Authorities said a 17-year-old male from Elizabeth was arrested on Monday, June 8, and charged with first-degree aggravated manslaughter, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

 

According to investigators, officers with the Elizabeth Police Department responded to a residence on Florida Street at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Friday, June 5, after receiving reports of a shooting. 

When officers arrived, they located a 15-year-old male suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
 

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Prosecutor Daniel thanked members of the public who assisted investigators, as well as personnel from the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force, the Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and the Elizabeth Police Department for their efforts during the investigation.
