Motorists traveling through Edison should expect delays Saturday morning after a water main break forced the closure of multiple lanes on a busy stretch of Route 1.

According to preliminary reports, police were notified of heavy water flowing across the northbound lanes of Route 1 during the early morning hours.
Officers responded to the scene and contacted utility crews after determining that a water main had ruptured.
Authorities have closed two northbound lanes while repair crews work to address the problem and make necessary repairs.
The affected lanes are expected to remain closed through at least the morning hours.
Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes and allow extra travel time when passing through the area.

The incident remains active, and traffic conditions are expected to improve once repairs are completed.
