The first full weekend of June is just about here, and Mother Nature is giving New Jersey a taste of summer to help us get there.
Good morning and happy Friday! Residents across Newark and the surrounding region are waking up to warm temperatures, clear skies, and the promise of a beautiful day ahead.
If you’re headed out early this morning, leave the jacket at home. It’s a pleasant and breezy 70 degrees in downtown Newark, making for a comfortable trip to the bus stop, train station, or your morning commute.
We’re waking up to mostly clear skies, and abundant sunshine is expected throughout the day. Temperatures will climb quickly, with many locations reaching into the lower 90s this afternoon.
Residents should be aware that an air quality alert is in effect for the Newark region.
Sensitive groups, including children, older adults, and those with respiratory conditions, may want to limit prolonged outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.
According to the National Weather Service:
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 92 degrees. Calm winds becoming west at 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.
Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 70 degrees. Southwest winds between 3 and 5 mph.

Enjoy the sunshine, stay hydrated, and take breaks if you’re spending extended time outdoors.
Make it a great day, New Jersey!
