Motorcyclist Killed, Two Seriously Injured in Violent Route 1 Crash in Rahway

A violent late-night crash involving multiple motorcycles on Route 1 in Rahway left one motorcyclist dead and at least one other seriously injured Tuesday night, prompting a large emergency response that included the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management and the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

 

Authorities have not yet released many details regarding exactly what led up to the collision, as the incident remains under active and ongoing investigation by the Rahway Police Department.
 

According to preliminary information, emergency responders were dispatched to the area of Route 1 South in Rahway at approximately 11:40 p.m. after receiving reports of a serious crash involving injuries.
 

When police, firefighters, and EMS crews arrived at the scene, they found three motorcycles and victims who had been ejected following a collision involving a vehicle and two motorcycles.

 

One of the victims was administered CPR at the scene; however, lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful, and the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the location.

 

At least one other victim were transported to area hospitals suffering serious injuries. As of 5 a.m. Wednesday, both victims remained hospitalized in serious condition.

 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. 


Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved pending notification of family members.
