Newark’s House Music Festival Continues Under Gray Skies and Steady Rain Sunday

Newark

Good morning, New Jersey.

If you’re waking up with us on this Memorial Day weekend Sunday, don’t expect much improvement in the weather as another dreary, rainy, and raw day is ahead for Newark and much of North Jersey.

Rain has been falling across the region since Saturday afternoon, and conditions remain wet early this morning.

At 4:30 a.m., temperatures in downtown Newark hovered around a chilly 50 degrees under cloudy skies and steady rainfall.

If you’re heading to the 24 Hours of House Music event near the Prudential Center or making plans elsewhere across the region, be sure to bring the rain gear.

Periods of rain will continue throughout the day, with some heavier downpours possible during the morning and afternoon hours.

Gusty winds and damp conditions will make it feel even cooler than the thermometer suggests.

According to the National Weather Service, rain is expected throughout the day with a high temperature near 58 degrees.

East winds between 10 and 13 mph could gust as high as 24 mph. Forecasters say rainfall totals between a quarter-inch and one-half inch are possible by this evening.

The wet pattern is expected to continue overnight. Showers are likely to redevelop after 2 a.m., and areas of fog may form across portions of North Jersey.

Temperatures will slowly rise to around 59 degrees overnight as winds become lighter. Additional rainfall between one-tenth and one-quarter inch is possible.

Whether you’re attending holiday events, traveling, or simply spending time with family and friends, plan for a soggy Sunday and allow extra time on area roadways.

Have a safe and enjoyable Sunday, New Jersey.
