New Jersey State Police are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a woman early Sunday morning in Burlington County.

Authorities have released limited information as the investigation remains active and ongoing.
According to preliminary reports, troopers were dispatched at approximately 12:30 a.m. to the northbound lanes of Interstate 295 near Exit 45 in Westampton Township following reports of a serious motor vehicle crash.
When emergency responders arrived, they discovered a heavily damaged vehicle and found at least one victim who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial reports indicate the female victim was trapped inside the wreckage and required extrication by emergency personnel.
The circumstances leading up to the collision have not yet been disclosed, and investigators are working to determine what caused the crash.
No additional information, including the identity of the victim, was immediately available.
