Police said officers were dispatched to the Dollar Tree on May 17 at approximately 1:34 p.m. after receiving a report of a shoplifter.

A store employee told authorities she observed a man conceal an unknown number of items inside his jacket.

When officers arrived, the suspect was still at the store and was questioned about the reported theft.

At the request of the store manager, the man was escorted outside the business.

According to police, the suspect then began physically pulling away from officers and managed to break free before running from the area on foot.

After a brief foot pursuit, officers apprehended and arrested Sean McIndoe, 35, of East Orange. He was transported to Montclair Police headquarters for processing.
