The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has taken over the investigation into a double shooting in Jersey City that turned deadly early Monday morning.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims as the investigation remains active and ongoing.
However, preliminary information indicates that shortly before 1:15 a.m., police responded to reports of shots fired in the 100 block of Old Bergen Road.
When officers arrived, they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both individuals were rushed to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment.
One victim was later pronounced dead, while the second victim was not expected to survive as of approximately 2:30 a.m.
Police secured the area as detectives conducted the ongoing investigation throughout the morning hours.
No arrests have been announced at this time.
