UPDATE: Juvenile Fatally Struck by NJ Transit Train Near Red Bank Station During Morning Commute

A male juvenile was fatally struck by an NJ Transit North Jersey Coast Line train near Red Bank Station early Wednesday morning, according to officials.
 

The incident occurred at approximately 6:20 a.m. when North Jersey Coast Line Train No. 3218, which departed Long Branch at 6:08 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Penn Station New York at 7:39 a.m., struck the juvenile trespasser near the station area.

 

Officials said there were no reported injuries among the train crew or the 55 passengers aboard the train at the time of the incident.
 

Rail service on the North Jersey Coast Line was temporarily suspended between Long Branch and Matawan following the fatal collision but has since resumed. 

NJ Transit advised commuters to expect residual delays as the investigation continues.
 

NJ Transit Police are leading the investigation into the incident.
