After decades serving the Edison community, the beloved The Stelton Restaurant will close its doors for good at the end of May, according to owner Nick Kousoulis.

Kousoulis told local news outlets Tuesday that the longtime family-run breakfast-and-lunch diner’s final day of operation is expected to come during Memorial Day weekend, marking the end of an era for generations of Middlesex County residents who frequented the neighborhood staple.
The owner said the property’s landlord plans to sublease the Route 27 location to a QuickChek convenience store following the restaurant’s closure.
Known for its classic diner atmosphere, hearty breakfasts, and loyal customer base, The Stelton Restaurant has been a familiar gathering place for locals for many years.
News of the closing has already sparked disappointment and nostalgia among longtime patrons who considered the diner part of Edison’s community fabric.
No official closing date beyond Memorial Day weekend has yet been announced.
