TREAT MOM RIGHT: My Top North Jersey Restaurants for Mother’s Day

New Jersey

Ayeeee Jersey! HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY❤️

Mother’s Day is more than flowers, cards, and social media posts.

It’s about slowing down for a moment and celebrating the women who prayed for us, pushed us, protected us, and stood by us through life’s toughest moments.

Sadly, I lost my mom back in 2020 when so many others had losses around the Covid-19 era.

Across New Jersey, families will pour out of church services Sunday looking for the perfect place to continue the celebration over breakfast, brunch, or dinner.

And if you waited until the last minute to make reservations — well — good luck, because some of North Jersey’s favorite Mother’s Day spots will be packed from sunrise to sunset.

Still, if you are trying to figure out where to take mom this year, here are some of MY highly recommended places throughout the Newark and North Jersey region that always seem to get it right when it comes to food, atmosphere, and family vibes.

Newark Area Favorites for Mother’s Day

Tops Diner

If you haven’t already secured a reservation here, walking in today is going to be a dice roll. But there’s a reason people line up from all over the state. From incredible brunch dishes to beautiful presentation and top-tier service, (for me) Tops Diner remains one of the best places to celebrate mom in the Newark area.

Marcus B&P

Located inside the thriving Newark scene near the arena district, Marcus B&P brings a warm atmosphere with elevated comfort food and brunch options that fit the Mother’s Day mood perfectly.

The Yard - Newark

If your family enjoys modern brunch vibes mixed with great music and strong menu options, this has become a growing favorite for many in the city.

Casa d’Paco

For moms who love Spanish and Portuguese-inspired dishes, Casa d’Paco offers amazing flavor and a cozy atmosphere right in Newark’s Ironbound section.

Seabra’s Marisqueira

A longtime Ironbound staple known for seafood and traditional Portuguese dining, Seabra’s continues to be a strong family destination for special occasions.

North Jersey Spots Worth the Drive

The Stack Pancake House

If you are talking breakfast before church, this is one of the go-to spots in North Jersey. The pancakes are top tier, portions are generous, and the atmosphere is family-friendly. If you know, you know.

Sweet T’s Southern Eatery

If you’re staying in the Montclair area for dinner, Sweet T’s is absolutely one of the best options around.

Great soul food, warm hospitality, and an atmosphere that feels like family. But just like Tops Diner — getting in today may require patience. I’ve NEVER had a bad meal here… Customer service has always been on point.

Cornbread Farm-To-Soul

North Jersey families looking for elevated soul food continue to flock here. Their brunch and comfort dishes have made this place a Mother’s Day favorite throughout Essex County. Downtown Newark and Maplewood are great locations.

Toast

A classic brunch destination with creative breakfast plates and a relaxed atmosphere perfect for moms who enjoy a slower Sunday morning.

Jefferson’s Cafe

If homemade biscuits, soulful breakfast plates, and comfort food are your thing, Jefferson’s deserves a spot on your list. The Orange location is a little more spacious than Montclair but both still great.

The restaurants bring that homemade feeling that many families are looking for on Mother’s Day morning.

No matter where you end up today, whether it’s a packed diner, a soul food restaurant, or a small neighborhood breakfast spot,  the most important thing is making mom feel appreciated.

Buy the breakfast. Pay the bill. Give her the flowers. Take the pictures. Spend the time.

And from all of us here in North Jersey, Happy Mother’s Day to every mother, grandmother, aunt, godmother, and woman who helped raise and guide us through life.
