Emergency Crews Recover Body From Burning Vehicle in Jamesburg Park

Authorities in Middlesex County are investigating a deadly crash that claimed one life early Sunday morning in Jamesburg.

The incident occurred shortly before 1:30 a.m. at Thompson Park, where police responded to reports of a crash with injuries.

 

Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered a vehicle submerged in water and engulfed in flames. 

Officials learned that at least one person was trapped inside the burning vehicle as firefighters rushed to extinguish the blaze.

 

After the fire was brought under control, crews located one individual inside the vehicle suffering fatal injuries. The victim’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of family members.

Preliminary information indicates the vehicle may have been involved in a crash before ending up in the water, although authorities have not yet disclosed details surrounding the collision.
 

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office has been notified and is assisting with the investigation.

 

No additional information has been released at this time. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
