Parents and community members are invited to attend the “Hidden in Plain Sight” awareness program today at Hillside High School from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The event will take place inside the school’s Media Center, located at 1085 Liberty Avenue in Hillside.
“Hidden in Plain Sight” is an interactive exhibit designed to simulate a teenager’s bedroom, where everyday items are strategically placed to demonstrate possible warning signs of drug, alcohol, or tobacco use among young people.
Organizers say some indicators are obvious, while others are intentionally concealed or displayed openly in ways many parents may overlook.
The program encourages parents and guardians to become more aware of what may be inside their child’s bedroom and to recognize behaviors or items that could suggest risky activity.
Officials say the event aims to educate families about current trends involving youth substance use while promoting open communication and prevention within the community.
