NJ Woman Fatally Shot; Suspect Charged with Aggravated Manslaughter

Authorities in Atlantic City have charged a 26-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a young woman late last month.

According to information released by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, police responded to a reported shooting around 9:30 p.m. on April 22 at a residence on Hamilton Avenue. 

Upon arrival, officers located 22-year-old Jaylou Marlenne Pineda Lopez (pictured above) suffering from a gunshot wound. She was later pronounced dead.

 

Following an investigation by the prosecutor’s Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department, Franklin J. Felipe De La Paz, 26, of Atlantic City, was charged with aggravated manslaughter and possession of a large-capacity ammunition magazine.

 

Authorities say De La Paz was taken into custody on April 30 in Pleasantville with assistance from multiple agencies, including the Pleasantville Police Department, United States Marshals Service, and Homeland Security Investigations.
