Newark Man Charged in Deadly Union Township Chick-fil-A Mass Shooting

Authorities in Union Township have charged a Newark man in connection with a mass shooting that left one person dead and six others injured at a Chick-fil-A along Route 22 last month.
 

The Union County Prosecutor’s Office announced that Jaheed Fields, 20, is facing multiple charges tied to the April 11 shooting.

Officials said Malek Shepherd, 23, of New York City, was killed in the incident. Six other individuals sustained injuries and were treated at area hospitals.

 

Authorities have not released a motive as the investigation remains active and ongoing.
