A man was injured in a stabbing incident in Newarkâs South Ward Thursday afternoon following a confrontation involving a knife.
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said police responded at approximately 4:10 p.m., April 30, to the area of 15th Avenue and South 19th Street on reports of a stabbing.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a stab to his hand. 
Preliminary information indicates the injury occurred as the victim grappled with another man he knows during a fight involving a knife.
The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
The incident remains under active and ongoing investigation.
