Paterson Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Oak Street Shooting

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police DepartmentOfficer-In-Charge Patrick Murray announced that a Paterson man has been charged in connection with a non-fatal shooting that occurred on April 29, 2026.

Authorities said Kristian Gonzalez, 28, of Paterson, faces multiple charges, including first-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. 

He is also charged with several drug-related offenses, including possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession with intent to distribute.

 

According to officials, police were dispatched at approximately 8:17 p.m. to the area of Oak Street and Summer Street on reports of a shooting. Responding officers located a potential crime scene at the location.

 

The investigation determined that Gonzalez was responsible for the incident, authorities said. 

He was taken into custody without incident at approximately 9:11 p.m. in the area of North 8th Street in Hawthorne.
