BREAKING: Pedestrian Dead After Out-of-Control Vehicle Crashes Into Newark Laundromat

Authorities are investigating a deadly crash in Newark that left one person dead after a vehicle struck a pedestrian and slammed into a storefront.

The incident occurred just before 2:30 p.m. at Rose Hill Plaza, located in the 500 block of Irvington Avenue.

 

Preliminary information indicates that a driver lost control of a vehicle during a crash with a pickup truck while inside the parking lot then slammed  into the Ivy Hill Laundromat. 

While striking the building, the vehicle hit the victim who was seated at a table near the front of the laundromat. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

 

Police secured the entire plaza as they launched an active and ongoing investigation. Officials said the cause of the crash has not yet been determined.

 

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is expected to assist in the investigation.
