According to information released by the agency, new and upgraded vendors have been introduced at Secaucus Junction, Newark Penn Station, and Maplewood Station, offering commuters a mix of familiar brands and new concepts.

At Secaucus Junction, travelers can now grab quick snacks and treats from popular names such as Auntie Anne’s, Cinnabon, and Carvel, expanding on the station’s existing retail lineup.

Over at Newark Penn Station, officials say Zaro’s Bakery has completed a major renovation, introducing its Freshens concept.

The updated space now offers smoothies, grilled flatbreads, salads, and rice bowls, alongside its well-known baked goods, including the classic black-and-white cookies.

Nearby, Home Slice Pizza is serving hot pizza and other quick meal options for commuters on the go.

In Essex County, riders passing through Maplewood Station can now visit The Station, an extension of the Maplewood General Store, featuring coffee from Paper Plane Coffee Co. along with snacks and baked goods.

NJ TRANSIT officials said the additions are part of a broader strategy to improve rider satisfaction while generating additional revenue beyond fares.

The initiative aligns with the agency’s broader real estate strategy known as The LAND Plan—Leveraging Assets for Non-farebox Dollars—which aims to maximize the value of NJ TRANSIT-owned properties.

The plan outlines a long-term vision to generate billions in non-fare revenue while supporting economic development, including housing and job creation, around transit hubs across the state.

Officials say the effort reflects ongoing collaboration with state leaders and local communities to activate underutilized assets, improve service reliability, and provide a more convenient and enjoyable commuting experience.

The new retail additions are now open and serving customers at the three stations.
