A Trenton man has been arrested in connection with a fatal 2025 shooting after an extensive investigation by county and local authorities, according to information released by Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey and Trenton Police Director Steve Wilson.

Terrance Travers, 47, faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder, receiving stolen property, and several weapons offenses.
Authorities said he was taken into custody on April 13, 2026, in Pennsylvania by Falls Township Police Department.
He is currently being held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility pending extradition to New Jersey.
The charges stem from the August 29, 2025, shooting death of 41-year-old Andrew Coates of Trenton.
Police were patrolling near North Olden and Ohio avenues around 11:25 p.m. when a ShotSpotter alert signaled multiple rounds of gunfire in the area.
As officers responded, their patrol vehicle was struck by a car driven by Coates, who had been shot and lost control of the vehicle.
He was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
Authorities said a civilian was also struck and injured by Coates’ vehicle and taken to the hospital.
A second gunshot victim later arrived at the hospital with a wound to the leg and was reported in stable condition.
Two Trenton police officers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators also found that gunfire struck two unoccupied vehicles and a residence on Indiana Avenue, though no one inside the home was hurt.
Officials credited assistance from Middletown Township Police Department and the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office in helping locate and apprehend the suspect.

The case was led by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force, which authorities said conducted a detailed, months-long investigation to identify the suspect.
The investigation remains ongoing.
