Chilly Start to Sunday in Newark, Warmer Week Ahead

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

We are waking up to a chilly start to the second half of the weekend across Newark and the North Jersey region.

Good morning and happy Sunday, Jersey.

If you’re heading out to first Sunday service or making early plans, you’ll definitely want to grab that warm coat—the chill is back in the air.

As of this morning, temperatures in downtown Newark are around 41 degrees, but steady winds are making it feel closer to 37.

Today won’t be quite as pleasant as Saturday. Gusty conditions will keep temperatures from climbing much, with highs struggling to reach around 60 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, we can expect increasing clouds with a high near 59 degrees.

Winds will start from the north at 6 to 11 mph before shifting out of the south later in the afternoon.

Tonight will remain mostly cloudy, with lows dipping to around 48 degrees and a light south wind between 7 and 9 mph.

The good news—this is just a brief cooldown. Spring will quickly remind us it’s here, with temperatures expected to surge into the mid-80s by the middle of the week.

That means perfect conditions ahead for getting outside, especially for those working or spending time in downtown Newark.

Have a great Sunday, Jersey, and get ready for a beautiful stretch of weather ahead.
