Elderly Woman Killed in Route 9 Crash in Manalapan Under Investigation

A fatal collision that claimed the life of a 72-year-old woman in Monmouth County is under active investigation, according to information released by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

 

Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced that the incident occurred night, April 7, at approximately 10:56 p.m., when officers from the Manalapan Police Department were dispatched to Route 9 South near Russell Court.

 

Preliminary findings indicate that a male driver operating a 2018 Nissan Frontier in the left lane struck a pedestrian, who was then thrown toward the right shoulder of the roadway.

 

The victim has been identified as 72-year-old Deborah Ross. She was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 11:26 p.m., authorities said.

 

Officials confirmed that the driver remained at the location following the crash.

 

The investigation is being conducted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and the Manalapan Police Department. Authorities say the case remains active and ongoing.
