By: Tracie Carter

Newark authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying three suspects wanted in connection with a violent assault that left a man unconscious outside a downtown lounge, according to a statement released by city officials.

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. said the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on March 15, 2026, in the 200 block of Washington Street.

Officials say the victim had just argued with a woman who allegedly struck his vehicle with her car and was walking toward the Vault Lounge when the attack happened.

Surveillance video captured three males exiting multiple vehicles and approaching the victim before launching a violent assault.

Authorities said the suspects punched and kicked the victim in the face, causing him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.

Police described the suspects as follows:

Suspect No. 1 is described as a male with a light complexion, facial hair, medium build, and a short afro. He was wearing black-and-white sneakers and a black sweatsuit with white lettering on the front.

Suspect No. 2 has a brown complexion and was wearing a black wave cap and a gray cardigan sweater with a floral design.

Suspect No. 3 is described as having a brown complexion, a slim build, and was wearing a red sweatsuit with blue jeans.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.

Director Miranda urges anyone with information on the suspects’ identities to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stoppers tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS.
