Newark police are investigating a stabbing that left a teenage boy injured Tuesday evening in the city’s Central Ward.

According to a statement released by Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr., officers responded at approximately 7:16 p.m. on April 7 to a residence in the 200 block of Muhammad Ali Avenue after receiving reports of a stabbing.
Upon arrival, police located a 16-year-old male suffering from a stab wound to his hand.
Authorities said the injury occurred during a dispute involving a juvenile female known to the victim.
The teen was transported to University Hospital, where he was treated and is reported to be in stable condition.

Officials confirmed that the suspect has been taken into custody. The incident remains under active investigation.
