Search Underway for Missing Newark Woman Last Seen in South Ward

Authorities in Newark are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing city resident who has not been seen since earlier this week.

According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr., 36-year-old Christina Omogor Onunu was reported missing on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

 

Officials said Ms. Onunu, who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia, was last seen around 2 p.m. in the area of Hobson Street near Nye Avenue.

 

She is described as a Black female, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. 

At the time she was last seen, she was wearing a black sweater and black sweatpants.

 

Authorities are urging anyone with information about her whereabouts to come forward.

The investigation remains active as police continue efforts to locate her safely
