A late-night shooting in a residential neighborhood left two people injured, one critically, prompting an active investigation by local authorities.
The incident unfolded just before 11 p.m. in the 400 block of West 4th Street in Plainfield.
Officers with the Plainfield Police Department responded to reports of shots being fired in the area.
Upon arrival, police located two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims was found in critical condition and required CPR at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital.
That individual is currently reported to be in a life-threatening condition.
The second victim sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening and was also transported for treatment.
Authorities secured the scene as detectives canvassed the area for evidence and began searching for a possible suspect. No additional injuries have been reported.
The shooting remains under active and ongoing investigation.
