Authorities in Bergen County are investigating a violent burglary that left a homeowner injured early Sunday morning.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office has been notified of the incident, which occurred in the 200 block of Failer Drive in New Milford.
According to preliminary information, officers with the New Milford Police Department responded just before 3:30 a.m. to reports of a burglary in progress.
Upon arrival, police located the homeowner suffering from a slash wound to the arm.
The victim was treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Investigators determined that the suspect was confronted by the homeowner during the attempted burglary, leading to an aggravated assault before the suspect fled the scene.
At this time, no arrests have been reported. Authorities say the investigation remains active and ongoing.
