Federal food safety officials have issued a public health alert for a ground beef product distributed to several states, including New Jersey, due to possible contamination with metal.

According to a statement released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the alert involves 16-ounce vacuum-sealed packages labeled “White Oak Pastures, Radically Traditional Farming, Grassfed Ground Beef.”

The product was produced on February 26, 2026, and carries establishment number “EST 34729” inside the USDA mark of inspection, along with a sell-by date of March 19, 2026.

Officials said the affected beef was shipped to a distributor and sold at Mom’s Organic Markets locations across multiple states, including New Jersey, as well as Washington D.C., Massachusetts, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

The issue came to light after the manufacturer received two consumer complaints reporting possible metal fragments in the product.

While no injuries have been confirmed, federal officials are urging caution.

A formal recall was not issued because the product is no longer available for sale in stores.

However, FSIS warns that some packages may still be in consumers’ freezers.

Instead, consumers should discard the product or return it to the place of purchase.

Health officials say anyone concerned about possible injury should contact a healthcare provider.
