A fast-moving fire at a two-story home in Newark prompted a swift response from firefighters early Friday morning, leading to the rescue of a woman and two children who were trapped on a fire escape.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:03 a.m. on March 20 at 10 Patten Place.
Arriving crews encountered visible fire conditions and immediately worked to reach the occupants awaiting help outside the building.
All three victims were safely rescued and transported to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center for evaluation. Officials reported no additional injuries.
The fire was placed under control within about 30 minutes, around 2:33 a.m.
Authorities confirmed that four adults and two children have been displaced due to the blaze.

According to Emanuel Miranda Sr., the cause and origin of the fire remain under active investigation by the Department of Public Safety’s Arson Unit.
