Jaisun Z. Brown, 21, entered guilty pleas on Tuesday before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Joseph W. Oxley.

Brown admitted to second-degree witness retaliation tied to actions following a 2024 murder trial, along with a separate second-degree charge of unlawful possession of a weapon stemming from an incident on October 1, 2025.

According to investigators, Brown’s actions began in April 2025, shortly after the sentencing of a defendant in a 2022 homicide case.

The sentencing took place before Monmouth County Presiding Criminal Superior Court Judge Jill Grace O’Malley.

An investigation led by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau revealed that Brown made multiple communications directed at, or referencing, a key witness involved in the homicide trial.

Authorities said the messages contained threatening or suggestively violent language aimed at intimidating the individual.

Prosecutors say Brown’s actions were intended to retaliate against the witness for their role in the case.

Brown is scheduled to be sentenced on Friday, May 15.

The state is expected to seek a sentence of five years in New Jersey State Prison for the witness retaliation charge, along with an additional three-year term, with one year of parole ineligibility, on the weapons offense.

The investigation was conducted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau.
