A serious crash on Route 1 in Mercer County left an 80-year-old Pennsylvania man with life-threatening injuries Wednesday morning, according to information released by West Windsor Police.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:52 a.m. on the southbound side of Route 1 near Harrison Street.
Authorities say the man, from Levittown, was operating a 2024 Kia when his vehicle struck the center median multiple times.
Police reported that the Kia then drifted into the center lane, where it collided with the rear of a 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by a 38-year-old man from Bogota, New Jersey.
First responders arriving at the scene found the driver unresponsive and immediately began performing CPR.
He was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center – Fuld Campus, where he is being treated for multiple life-threatening injuries.
According to investigators, dash camera footage provided by the vehicle’s registered owner indicates the driver may have suffered a medical episode and lost consciousness just before the crash.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not reported injured.
Authorities have not released the identities of those involved as the investigation remains active and ongoing.
