According to a statement released by Middlesex County Prosecutor Linda Estremera and North Brunswick Police Director Joseph Battaglia, the investigation began on March 6, after authorities were notified by the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency of an alleged incident inside the Middlesex County Youth Shelter.

Officials say a 16-year-old reported being assaulted while inside the facility’s medical unit.

A joint investigation conducted by detectives from the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the North Brunswick Police Department determined that Izee Dizon, 34, of Bridgewater, engaged in inappropriate physical and verbal contact with the juvenile.

Authorities said Dizon was taken into custody on March 8 without incident.

He has been charged with third-degree aggravated assault and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
