The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office has released body-worn camera and surveillance footage connected to a fatal motor vehicle crash that claimed the life of a South Jersey man last year.

According to officials, the incident occurred on November 9, 2025, in West Deptford and remains under investigation by the Attorney General’s Office of Public Integrity and Accountability (OPIA).
Authorities previously identified the victim as Jose M. Martinez, 42, of Lindenwold.
The footage was released in accordance with the state’s policy aimed at ensuring transparency and public trust in investigations involving fatal encounters with law enforcement.
Officials stated that members of Martinez’s family were given the opportunity to review the recordings before they were made public.
According to the preliminary investigation, the incident began around 6:00 p.m. when West Deptford police officers responded to a dispatch call reporting two individuals who were believed to be intoxicated.
Police said Patrolman Conor Goggin, operating a marked patrol vehicle, activated his emergency lights in an attempt to stop a vehicle matching the description provided by dispatch.
However, the driver of that vehicle allegedly fled at a high rate of speed.
Authorities said the fleeing vehicle ignored a traffic signal and entered the intersection of Hessian Avenue and Red Bank Avenue, where it collided with another vehicle driven by Martinez.
Martinez was pronounced dead as a result of the crash.
A rear-seat passenger in his vehicle suffered a leg fracture but survived.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No additional details have been released at this time.
