A late-night crash in Toms River has claimed the life of a 37-year-old mother of three, authorities confirmed.

Shamirah Nolan was identified as the victim of a fatal head-on collision that occurred shortly after 11:05 p.m. on March 7 along Lakewood Road near Whitty Road.
According to information released by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, officers from the Toms River Township Police Department were dispatched to the area after receiving reports of a serious motor vehicle crash.
Investigators determined that a Volkswagen Jetta was traveling southbound on Lakewood Road when it struck a guardrail on the passenger side.
The impact caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, sending it into oncoming traffic.
Officials said the Jetta then collided head-on with a Honda Accord that was traveling northbound on Lakewood Road. Nolan was driving the Honda at the time of the crash.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and began providing aid, but Nolan suffered fatal injuries.
