Good Thursday morning to residents across Newark and the North Jersey region as the workweek begins to wind down with changing weather conditions expected throughout the day.
Early risers heading to the bus stop or taking the dog out around 4:30 a.m. are seeing relatively mild conditions compared to recent mornings.
Temperatures are hovering around 58 degrees under mostly cloudy skies, though a steady breeze is making it feel slightly cooler, closer to 56 degrees.
Windy conditions are expected to develop between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., with periods of drizzle possible around mid-morning.
Temperatures today will range between 35 and 61 degrees, though shifting winds may make it feel as cool as the mid-20s at times later in the day.
After several days that hinted at early spring, residents may want to keep those winter coats handy a little longer.
According to the National Weather Service, rain is expected through much of the day before conditions turn colder during the afternoon.
Temperatures are forecast to fall to around 41 degrees by late afternoon as a strong northwest wind develops at 17 to 20 miles per hour.
Forecasters say rain could mix with or briefly change to snow later in the day, though little or no snow accumulation is expected.
The chance of precipitation is around 80 percent.

Thursday night, rain and snow showers may continue mainly before 8 p.m. Skies are expected to gradually clear later in the evening, with overnight temperatures dropping to around 32 degrees.
Have a great day, New Jersey, and stay prepared for the quick shift in weather as winter tries to remind us it’s not quite finished yet.
