Officials confirmed that Essex County Sheriff’s officers responded to a report of a deceased male in his early 20s at the park Friday.

After arriving at the scene and conducting a preliminary investigation, authorities indicated that the death appears to be the result of ‘self inflicted’.

At this time, investigators say there are no signs of foul play.

The individual’s identity has not been released as officials work to notify the next of kin.

Because the incident occurred in a public space and involved an emergency response, it has drawn attention from the community.

Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains active as they continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the death.

Out of respect for the family during this extremely difficult time, limited details are being released.

Our condolences go out to the young man’s family, friends, and loved ones as they navigate this heartbreaking loss.

Anyone experiencing emotional distress or thoughts of self-harm is encouraged to seek help through mental health professionals or crisis support resources.
