Police in Jersey City took two suspects into custody following a late-night shots fired incident near Lincoln Park Saturday night.

According to preliminary information, the incident unfolded shortly before 11:30 p.m., when a ShotSpotter detection system alerted authorities to several rounds of gunfire in the vicinity of the park.
Multiple police units responded to the area and located several shell casings near 75 Harvey Avenue. While investigating, officers received information that two males wearing masks had fled the scene on foot.
Authorities quickly broadcast a description of the suspects to patrol units in the surrounding area. Officers canvassing nearby streets soon spotted the individuals running and initiated a brief foot pursuit.
Police were able to apprehend both suspects a short distance from the scene. During the investigation, officers recovered two firearms believed to be connected to the incident.
Detectives later returned to the initial area to conduct a more thorough search and secure evidence. Officials said no injuries were reported.
Both suspects were transported to a local police facility where they were processed and charged with weapons-related offenses, including unlawful possession of a firearm and discharging a weapon within city limits.
The incident remains under active investigation. Authorities have not released the identities of the suspects at this time.
