Authorities say an investigation remains ongoing after an unknown man entered a private daycare facility Tuesday morning, prompting a lockdown and precautionary safety measures at nearby schools.

According to information released by Franklin Township Public Safety Director Lloyd Fredericks, the incident occurred at approximately 10:31 a.m. on March 3, when Franklin Township police officers were dispatched to a daycare located on Franklin Boulevard.
Officials said the facility initiated a lockdown after an unidentified male entered the building.
Responding officers arrived quickly but determined the individual had already left the location before police reached the scene.
Because the man’s intentions were initially unknown, authorities notified the Franklin Township Board of Education.
School officials subsequently implemented shelter-secure procedures at several nearby schools as a precaution to protect students and staff.
Following an investigation, detectives were able to identify the individual involved and determined that there is no threat to the public.
Director Fredericks praised the swift and coordinated response of daycare staff who immediately activated lockdown procedures and called 9-1-1.
He also commended responding police officers, detectives, and Board of Education administrators for working together to secure the area and ensure the safety of children and staff during the incident.
Authorities say the investigation into the trespassing incident remains active.
