In remarks reported by Reuters, Trump said the military campaign is targeting Iranian missile systems and other strategic assets.

President Trump delivered the announcement about the start of “major combat operations” in Iran in a video message posted on his Truth Social account from his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, according to the Associated Press.

The action represents one of the most serious direct confrontations between Washington and Tehran in years, with U.S. officials closely monitoring potential retaliation and broader regional fallout.

While the conflict is unfolding thousands of miles away, there could be ripple effects here at home.

New Jersey is home to a large population of veterans, National Guard members, and military families, many of whom have ties to overseas operations.

Any sustained military engagement could lead to increased deployments or heightened readiness levels.

Economic impacts are also possible. Historically, major military conflicts in the Middle East have influenced global oil prices and financial markets.

That can translate into higher fuel costs and market volatility, affecting commuters, businesses, and pension investments across the Garden State.

The situation remains fluid, and further updates are expected as the White House and Pentagon release additional information.
