UPDATE: PA Man Killed, Two Hurt in Saturday Night Crash on NJ Turnpike in Elizabeth

Authorities are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred Saturday night on the New Jersey Turnpike in Union County.

 

According to Trooper Charles Marchan, members of the New Jersey State Police responded to a motor vehicle crash at approximately 9:01 p.m. on February 21 on the southbound outer roadway near milepost 100.5 in Elizabeth.
 

Based on a preliminary investigation, a Toyota passenger vehicle operated by Roseanna Mohabeer, 31, of Elizabeth, was traveling southbound on the outer roadway in the area of the right shoulder near milepost 100.5.

 

Ahead of the Toyota, a Tesla passenger vehicle was reportedly parked on the right shoulder. James Guevarra, 54, of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, was standing outside the rear of the Tesla on the shoulder. 

 

The Tesla was occupied by passenger Frances Guevarra, 52, also of Langhorne.

 

State Police said the Toyota struck James Guevarra and then collided with the Tesla.

 

As a result of the crash, James Guevarra sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. Frances Guevarra suffered moderate injuries, while Mohabeer sustained serious injuries.

 

The incident remains under active investigation.
