Fiery Truck Crash Shuts Down NJ Turnpike in Burlington County

New Jersey State Police are investigating a deadly multi-truck crash that erupted into flames early Saturday morning, shutting down a stretch of the New Jersey Turnpike in Burlington County.

According to preliminary reports, the collision occurred around 2:20 a.m. in the southbound inner lanes near milepost 43.2 in Westampton Township.
 

Troopers arriving at the scene encountered at least two trucks involved in a serious crash, with both vehicles engulfed in flames. 

Firefighters were immediately dispatched to battle the intense blaze burning on the highway.

 

As crews worked to extinguish the fire, officials learned that one person was trapped inside one of the trucks.
 

After the flames were brought under control, responders located an unidentified driver inside one of the vehicles who had suffered fatal injuries. 

The individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
 

The New Jersey Turnpike was temporarily closed in the area as troopers conducted their investigation and crews worked to clear debris from the roadway.

The cause of the crash remains under active investigation. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim or additional details.
