UPDATE: Elizabeth Woman Killed After UPS Truck Crash Sends Vehicle Into Newark Crosswalk

An investigation is underway following a deadly crash in Newark’s South Ward that left a 42-year-old Elizabeth woman dead and two others injured Wednesday night.

Theodore N. Stephens II confirmed that the collision happened on February 11, 2026, at approximately 8:30 p.m., at the intersection of Chancellor Avenue and Fabyan Place.

 

According to preliminary findings, a UPS delivery truck traveling northbound on Fabyan Place collided with a vehicle heading westbound on Chancellor Avenue. 

The force of the crash caused the second vehicle to veer into the northern crosswalk, where it struck two pedestrians who were walking westbound across Chancellor Avenue.

 

The victim, identified as Ms. Danielle Sadowski, 42, of Elizabeth, was transported to University Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased at 1:18 a.m. Thursday.
 

A male pedestrian and the driver of the second vehicle were also taken to University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The UPS truck driver was not hurt and declined medical attention.

 

The Newark Police Division continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
